Fans are still trying to come to terms with the latest 9-1-1 episode, Lab Rats where Fire Captain Bobby Nash met his end. The episode was emotional, heartbreaking, frustrating and wonderfully acted. How will the show go on when its heart has been ripped out due to a super virus?
Peter Krause recently said in an interview that he knows that fans are upset and he gets it. He also spoke about how much he will miss being on the set of 9-1-1. If all that wasn’t enough to make fans shed a tear, the 91-1- trailer for the next episode, premiering in two weeks, is sure to get the waterworks going.
In it, the 118 and all those that loved Bobby attend his funeral. The voiceover asks, “When a hero falls, can his world move on” and the answer is a resounding NO! Chimney is taking the loss hard (and honestly I thought it would be Buck that would crash out) because he feels Bobby is dead because of him. Buck being the one to reassure him brings this full circle.
Everyone has tears in their eyes and there is even a shot where you can see Bobby’s mother and brother along with Athena’s parents in attendance. Very sneaky of the show introducing Bobby’s family again aged up, not in a flashback, only to take him from us a couple of episodes later. Does this show love pain? I think they do. Eddie of course returns from Texas to attend the funeral.
I would’ve thought Michael would come from Haiti as he and Bobby developed a great friendship over the seasons. If the original actor (Rockmond Dunbar) was not available (due to the way he parted the show, it is understandable) I would’ve been ok with a recast as this is an important moment.
However, the gut punch of the 9-1-1 trailer? Athena. She already lost one love in the line of duty and now she is 2 for 2. My goodness.
“He just left, he left me.”
I am not sure if I am ready for more emotional abuse. What about you? Check out the trailer below and sound off in the comments.
